Dear Friends of L.I.F.E. In The Springs,
Last week I had the opportunity and honor to give my testimony of freedom through Jesus from same sex attraction and gender confusion at Colorado’s state Capitol in Denver. I spoke before our state Representatives and answered questions as to why I oppose a bill that would make it illegal for licensed professionals to counsel a minor who desires to change their sexual orientation or gender identity. (See the enclosed testimony I shared).
House Bill 17-1156 Concerning a prohibition of conversion therapy by a licensed mental health care provider: The bill prohibits a licensed physician specializing in psychiatry or a licensed or registered mental health care provider from engaging in conversion therapy with a patient under 18 years of age. A licensee who engages in these efforts is subject to disciplinary action by the appropriate licensing board. “Conversion therapy” means efforts that seek to change and individual’s sexual orientation, including efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions tor to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attraction or feelings toward individuals of the same sex.
There were about 19 people giving testimony, including “gay” pastors, supporting this House Bill. There were 6 of us who were against it including a representative from Focus on the Family. I spoke about why this Bill discriminates and takes away choice for parents and children under 18 that want help and desire freedom from same sex attraction or have gender confusion. I also talked about how harmful this Bill would be. I was able to answer the representatives questions, some tricky, with grace and humility teaching God’s Truths for another 4 minutes. What an opportunity! The co-chair said she was a lesbian and can identify with my testimony and what I said and asked me a few questions about the counseling I received. Of all the people she asked questions of, I was the only one to whom she admitted being a lesbian. I could clearly sense the spiritual connection of grace and mercy, a divine appointment, a brief moment in history like Esther for “such a time as this” in her life. I was asked if my counseling was Christian. I walked through the open door and spoke a few minutes on complete freedom and the need to deal with the underlying issues, the hurts, our ungodly reactions to pain and then receive God’s healing. I shared about being created as a woman of God and my unwanted same sex attraction lessened as I was affirmed in my heterosexual identity; until finally I didn’t have any more same sex attraction (SSA) or gender confusion. Praise God! I know God’s Word won’t return void as she and others heard undeniable Truth. I will follow up with her because she had more questions, but we ran over on the time limit. Please pray for her. Her name is Joann.
I was so inspired by speaking openly to our state governmental representatives and it reaffirmed my call to share my testimony and the love of teaching, ministering one-to-one and leading groups of people out of a place of pain and addiction to God’s place of true freedom. Speaking and teaching about my personal testimony is my true passion and calling and this opportunity to plant seeds of Truth and HOPE in our State Capitol was exciting. Glory to God!!!
I just received an email with news that the House of Representatives voted 7-6 in favor of the Bill which was closer than expected. It’s going to the Senate within the month where they hear witness and testimony on both sides. I was asked to share my testimony again! My eyes teared up as I’m given another opportunity to share what God has done for me and give people HOPE to those who would hear while standing against this evil with which the enemy wants to saturate our country with. PRAYERS!!!
The last few months we’ve been finishing our 3 year ministry plan, developing a Web site, creating a Power Point to present to people one-to-one and in groups to build awareness of who we are and raise funding for our work, creating a logo and a ministry flyer while we continue to lead our weekly support group and minister freedom to people one-to-one. Please pray for Brian and I to minister with God’s grace, wisdom and guidance and the Lord’s direction and open doors as we seek partnerships so we both can transition to full time ministry.
If you would like to become a financial PARTNER with us as we spread the “Good News” and minister to those seeking Christ’s freedom and healing, you can GIVE at https://newhorizonsfoundation.com/ and click on project L.I.F.E.
